1m F/8 Ritchey Chrétien with dual Nasmyth Foci, Cape Town (South Africa)

Another large telescope for the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO). An 1m F/8 Alt-Az mounted Ritchey Chrétien for robotic use. It has dual Nasmyth Foci. The main telescopes used for research are located at the SAAO observing station (32°22.795’S 20°48,657’E) near Sutherland in the Northern Cape, a 4-hour drive from Cape Town.

Holds eight 36mm drop in filters for un-vignetted imaging at any f/ratio with STC-428 cameras.
Thin design – adds only 20mm backfocus (Total backfocus for STC-428 with FW8-STC is 38mm).
Allows the use ofan optional Nikon lens adapter with the filter wheel.
Uses the camera’s AUX port for power and commands. No additional power or computer cable is required.

SBIG STC-7 (after removing integrated filter wheel)

Supports StarChaser SC-2 autoguider. SC-2 also provides support for the AO-8A adaptive optics accessory.
